Since it’s humble beginnings in 1836 Schneider-Electric has transformed itself into the global specialist in energy management it is today. Starting from its roots in the iron and steel industry, heavy machinery, and ship building in the 19th century, it moved into electricity and automation management in the 20th century.
During the past few years Schneider-Electric engaged in a strategy of accelerated growth and competitiveness. The years 2000 – 2009 were particularly a period of organic growth, with Schneider-Electric positioning itself in new market segments: UPS (uninterruptible power supply), movement control, building automation and security through acquisitions of APC, Clipsal, TAC, Pelco, Xantrex, and more.
It is also during this time that Schneider-Electric acquired WIBE the manufacturers of WIBE and DEFEM Cable Management Systems.
